What difference will you make?
We are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the role, and who will help broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. No previous governance experience is required, as we will provide full induction and training. As a small charity, Oxford Wood Recycling may require trustees to be actively involved beyond Board meetings, such as scrutinising board papers, leading discussions, advising on initiatives, representing externally, or applying special expertise.

Personal skills and qualities: Willingness and ability to understand responsibilities and liabilities as trustees, act in the best interests of the organisation, think creatively and strategically, exercise independent judgment, participate actively in discussions, and demonstrate a strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Enthusiasm for our vision and mission, and adherence to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
Background skills: We are especially interested in Trustees with skills in:

* Marketing (local and national)
* Networking (connecting local organisations)
* HR and employment within a social enterprise environment
* Training and apprenticeships, validating employability models
* Sustainability and environmental expertise
* Woodcraft, sourcing and using wood
What will you be doing?
Oxford Wood Recycling is a social enterprise focused on increasing sustainable wood use and improving employability for those facing barriers to work. Our trustees ensure a clear strategy aligned with our vision, support and challenge the executive team, oversee management and administration, and act collectively as a group.
Key duties include:
* Supporting and advising on purpose, vision, goals, and activities
* Approving operational strategies and policies, monitoring implementation
* Overseeing financial plans, budgets, and statements
* Ensuring effective administration and risk management
* Supporting the CEO and contributing to governance reviews
* Attending meetings and contributing to discussions
* Promoting Oxford Wood Recycling externally
