Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper to support our growing team. This role is crucial in maintaining accurate financial records for our clients and ensuring that their day-to-day financial operations run smoothly and compliantly. The successful candidate will work closely with the accounting team to record transactions, reconcile accounts, prepare reports, and support tax and payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper at Levana Accounting & Tax, your duties will include:
Financial Recording & Transactions
● Record and maintain accurate financial transactions including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
● Enter data into accounting software and ledgers in a timely and accurate manner.
Accounts & Reconciliation
● Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and ledgers to ensure accuracy. ● Monitor accounts payable and accounts receivable; ensure timely invoicing and payments.
Reporting & Compliance
● Prepare basic financial reports, including cash flow, profit & loss, and balance sheets.
● Assist in preparing VAT returns and support compliance with relevant tax regulations.
● Help prepare financial information for year-end accounts and other submissions.
Payroll & Support Functions
● Support payroll processing and pension contributions under supervision, if required.
● Maintain accurate records of expenses and employee claims.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
● Identify discrepancies and help improve bookkeeping procedures.
● Work closely with the accounting team to ensure cohesive financial support for clients.
Required Qualifications & Skills
● Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting support.
● Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
● Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and UK accounting practices.
● Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
● Good organizational and time-management skills.
● Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information.
● Strong communication skills — written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
● AAT, ACCA, or relevant bookkeeping certification.
● Previous experience working in a public accounting or bookkeeping practice.
