Mechanical Engineer - 3 full days on site, 5 days when commissioning or as needed and travel (North of Scotland including Islay) - 12 months - £(Apply online only) per day inside IR35 Purpose of the role * Play a significant role to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of colleagues and others * Working safely within the team, aware of hazards within your work area, wider site and operating procedures and preventing incidents from occurring * The main purpose of the mechanical engineer role is to be responsible for the maintenance, repair and improvement of all mechanical assets across our sites. * Ensure the delivery of efficient and effective maintenance, repair, problem solving and improvement of assets and their availability. * Work closely with operations teams, CAPEX and other maintenance groups to maximise efficiency of operational assets. * Use of our Computerised Maintenance Management System (SAP-PM) for raising, updating, and recording of maintenance tasks in accordance with a weekly asset care delivery plan. * Work with Operations, Site Management and Maintenance Planners to ensure compliance with and delivery of Plant KPI metrics. * Ensure adherence to plans and delivery of wider business targets. * Any use of stock items and spare parts are recorded via the SAP-PM system and stock control processes. * Support Maintenance Managers & Business Leaders and act as a point of contact for asset care Manufacturing Excellence (TRACC) metric delivery at sites. * Lead/support workstreams that produce results in improving reliability and efficiency, whilst at the same time deliver potential cost savings to the business. * Own and drive asset care IMPROVE activity both directly at site and within the asset care community. Actively take part/lead root cause problem solving (RCPS) activity and provide subject matter expertise to ensure that 100-year fixes are identified, actioned and implemented. Key Accountabilities * Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality Standards. * Working in line with operating procedures to ensure all hazards/risks are managed and familiar with hazard/incident reporting processes * Ensure compliance to maintenance regulatory standards within the area. * Working closely with Operations teams, Maintenance planners and Craft groups to ensure all mandatory and requested maintenance is effectively delivered with minimal impact on production, ensuring the correct spare parts are available to carry out the maintenance tasks, in accordance with a weekly/daily asset care delivery plan. * Respond promptly and efficiently to plant breakdown situations. Analyse, fault find and repair, then root cause problems to ensure downtime is kept to a minimum. * Accurately record and promptly report the outcome of maintenance issues via SAP MMS to facilitate the sharing of best practice. * Implement best practice processes and procedures maximising effectiveness and efficiency, ensuring a strong interface with all key relationship teams. * Attend/Lead all critical tier meetings at sites - represent asset care. * Provides feedback on mechanical improvement workstreams relative to sites or engineering. Participate with relevant stakeholders on Continuous Improvement * Work with Operations to develop and deliver focused improvements to drive plant uptime and cost competitiveness. * Train and coach colleagues as required. Skills: Essential * Excellent analytical skills with ability to drive improvements. * Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate to all levels across the plant. * Excellent communication skills, good attitude and professional conduct are vital. * Ability to organise a variety of tasks and prioritise self and others accordingly. * Knowledge of Reliability Maintenance techniques * Experienced in data analysis, use of applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and business systems such as SAP. * Able to work as individual but also part of team. Have meticulous attention to detail. * Some of our sites operate on a 24/7 basis. Jobholder may be required to provide 24hr breakdown cover as part of a pre-determined rota. * Some of our sites will require a full UK driving license with the necessary in order to drive company vehicles. Desirable * Experience working in an engineering/production or service environment, technical and or/management experience an advantage, though not imperative. * Knowledge of Manufacturing processes. Qualifications on specific engineering techniques Education: Entry level requirements - skills and experience Qualifications * HNC level qualification in engineering or equivalent experience * Time served Engineer with Hands-on maintenance / Engineering experience.
