Media Manager (Maternity Cover)
The role:
This is a key role within an ambitious, internationally driven, and award-winning agency. As Media Manager you will be a highly organised and motivated individual who will manage the strategic media planning and buying for specific accounts for current agency and potential future clients. The job will primarily involve the planning, buying and post campaign reviews of media interventions across the core mediums of TV, Radio, Print, Outdoor, Cinema and Digital. Geographically, your main remit will focus on Northern Ireland planning, however you will occasionally be involved in planning/buying media in ROI, GB and further afield, depending on client requirements. You will support the Head of Media and work closely with the agency’s strategic planner and account management functions, as well as work with client representatives at a management level. The role will involve identifying clients’ current media needs and anticipating future needs to develop strategic and tactical solutions to answer their objectives. You will also be required to identify media revenue opportunities through “last minute” offers, potential “media only” clients and maximising on media rebates.
What the role requires:
4. Excellent understanding of ALL NI media platforms (TV, Radio, Outdoor, Print, & Cinema, Digital) the current media landscape and future trends.
5. Desired knowledge of ROI, GB or Global media planning/ buying.
6. Proficiency in media planning and research tools e.g. TGI, Nielsen, Concept, Telmar, JNOR, Caria, and desire to seek out new tools to benefit clients.
7. Strategic thinker with the ability to go beyond the client’s brief to provide holistic thinking to media planning and buying.
8. Ability to develop strong client relationships to successfully understand their business, marketplace, and competitors’ activity.
9. Ability to build excellent relationships with media suppliers, contractors, and media partners.
10. Excellent negotiation skills and ability to achieve the best deals for the agency and clients including availing of benching and tracking research where possible.
11. Ability to cost out media plans and manage client budgets, maximising revenue streams from each account for the Agency.
12. Ability to manage media bookings and delivery of approved campaigns, from raising PO’s to matching invoices.
13. Ability to create evaluation mechanisms and compile detailed media reviews, as well as identify recommendations on how to improve for future activity.
14. Excellent project management skills, planning, prioritising, and scheduling your workflow across several accounts in an effective manner.
15. Excellent writing skills with the ability to create presentations and new business tenders.
16. Excellent verbal skills with the ability to both brief individuals and make presentations to client teams and new business pitches in a clear, persuasive manner.
17. Keeping up to date with the industry information, sourcing case studies and trends to identify and share best practice across all disciplines and clients.
18. Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
Necessary Qualities
19. Ability to manage the development, implementation, and review of media solutions in response to client needs adding value at every stage.
20. Have strong numerical skills and be confident with working with data and assimilating large quantities of information in an efficient and effective manner.

27. Be fully aware of and adhere to CPD & ISO and the relevant agency processes.
28. Have knowledge of Clearcast, RACC and other approval/regulatory bodies.
29. Support the Head of Media in large tender submissions and compile smaller tenders when they arise.
30. Identify media only clients/ opportunities and actively seek out “media first” opportunities for existing clients to drive recognition of Genesis on an International basis.
31. Manage day-to-day administration: bookings on Concept, delivery to suppliers, status reports (WIP) presentations and reviews.
32. Provide timely copy instructions to broadcast mediums, detailing client, dates, clock numbers, copy rotation, adhering to early closedowns where necessary.
33. Provide timely print copy specification to A/C Managers detailing client, insertion dates, dimensions, deadline, format, and production contact.
34. Ensure the Print Manager has received delivery breakdowns for Outdoor campaigns.
35. Compile detailed media reviews for your clients and support the Head of Media when necessary, detailing any learnings of how the campaign could be improved in future.
Financial Accountability
36. Provide concise media plans which detail all costs, including client rebate, VAT and Asbof levy where applicable.
37. Sense check media plans for other team members (as they will do for you)
38. Ensure ALL media orders are input correctly onto Concept at time of booking (i.e. prior to broadcast/publication) and corresponding PO’s sent to media suppliers
39. Work closely with the Accounts Manager to promptly resolve any invoice queries.
40. Produce and continually update the media section of CMT’s for Government clients when necessary.
3rd Party Suppliers
41. Organise quarterly/bi-annual update meetings with media suppliers and invite the media team.
42. Ability to brief ALL media suppliers, giving concise deadlines for delivery of materials to meet client needs, using the media briefing template where appropriate.
43. Ensure all media suppliers quote Gross, Nett & PO numbers on ALL invoices.
44. Glean knowledge of other agency activity, new initiatives and potential new “media only” business opportunities.
Working Relationships
45. Reports to the Head of Media
46. Teams with Strategy and Advertising Creative Team.
47. Provides help & guidance to other junior members of media team.
48. Work with Account Management/ Production Dept to ensure copy is delivered on time and in the correct format.
Other Requirements:
49. Adhere to agency processes e.g. CPD &ISO
50. Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook
