About the Role
A leading defence organisation is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of advanced missile systems. This is a hands-on design role within a multi-disciplinary team, ideal for someone with strong CAD skills and experience in defence, aerospace, or similar industries.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead mechanical design and proving activities for assemblies and components
* Resolve manufacturing issues and support testing and trials
* Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams on technical queries
* Participate in design reviews and project planning
Essential Skills
* Proficient in Creo 3D CAD
* Strong knowledge of:
o Manufacturing processes & tolerance studies
o Structural design & material selection
o FMEA, DfM/A, and environmental sealing
o Defence standards & product lifecycle management
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Background
* Defence or aerospace industry experience preferred
* Automotive or similar sectors considered with relevant skillset
