The role of Technical Manager (Building) at HMP Glenochil involves leading a team of Maintenance Engineers and Operatives to manage the estate's maintenance workload, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and service level agreements.
The Technical Manager will plan and direct Engineers and Operatives to carry out reactive and planned preventative maintenance (PPM), building and fire compliance, meeting locking policy and spare key safe management. They will also be responsible for planning and monitoring local and national contracts, as well as managing additional procurement responsibilities for local contracts.
This role requires a strong understanding of relevant legislation, including Health & Safety, Safe Systems of Work, Building and work to locking policy and spare key safe management. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, prioritising tasks, forward planning, and managing competing demands to ensure outputs are delivered on time.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A recognised apprenticeship in a relevant building related discipline, such as Carpentry & Joinery, to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* An HNC in an engineering subject
* Experience of building maintenance and repair work, meeting fire and locking compliance
* Ability to provide support, advice, and direction to others in carrying out installation works or complex repairs
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to provide practical and creative solutions to resourcing and technical issues
