Job Title: Technologist – Quality Services
Location: Kettering, NN16 8SD (with frequent UK and international travel)
Salary: Up to £26,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 per week
About the Role
We are looking for a Technologist to join our Quality Services team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys travel and has a strong interest in laboratory auditing and equipment calibration. The role involves regular UK and international travel (up to 20 weeks per year) to support a diverse client base, ensuring consistent quality and compliance across laboratory operations worldwide.
Typical assignments range from day visits within the UK to overseas trips of up to three weeks, covering destinations such as the USA, Brazil, Vietnam, and India. Travel is fully supported, with arrangements and expenses handled by the company. UK travel may involve using company pool vehicles, so personal car use is not required.
Comprehensive training will be provided, including enrolment in recognised auditing qualifications (ISO 9001 or ISO 17025).
Key Responsibilities
Calibrate testing equipment to client specifications
Conduct laboratory audits to internal and client standards
Assess laboratory staff in testing methods and processes
Prepare audit reports and calibration certificates within tight deadlines
Manage multiple client projects, ensuring requirements are fully understood
Plan and coordinate overseas trips efficiently and profitably
Work collaboratively with colleagues on travel arrangements, including risk assessments, visas, accommodation, flights, and local transport
Liaise with other departments to support project delivery
Complete specific accreditation processes (e.g., Leather Grading)
Promote and champion company services and products during client interactions
Person Specification
Essential:
Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 20+ weeks per year)
Strong technical knowledge and eagerness to learn new skills
Excellent time management, self-motivation, and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to support an international client base via phone, email, or in-person
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Full UK driving licence and valid passportDesirable:
Auditing experience
Recognised auditing qualification (ISO 9001 or ISO 17025)
Calibration experience
Knowledge of laboratory quality systems
Hands-on laboratory testing experience
Experience of international business travel
Practical/mechanical skills
Additional languages (e.g., Chinese, Spanish, Vietnamese, Thai)
