Overview
NHS Grampian Radiology Department invites applications for a Consultant Radiologist with specialist interest in Interventional Radiology to strengthen our team. The post is for an Interventional Radiologist with training in vascular and non-vascular radiology, performing the full spectrum of interventional work in Aberdeen. The new Interventional Radiology suite at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary opened in March 2020, with a second IR room opening in November 2022. State-of-the-art equipment includes two Siemens Artis Q ceiling-mounted interventional machines, a 3-bed recovery/day case area, full anaesthetic facilities, a dedicated ultrasound room for drainages, biopsies and review of clinic patients.
Responsibilities
* Provide interventional radiology services with sub-specialist experience that complements existing services (e.g., GI/Colorectal or Gynaecological intervention).
* Work within the Vascular/Non-Vascular Interventional Radiology scope, including EVAR programmes (FEVAR, branched-EVAR, BEVAR) and non-oncological embolotherapy (e.g., uterine, prostate, varicocele embolization).
* Collaborate with vascular radiologists and surgeons; contribute to a thriving clinical and research environment within a major trauma centre.
* Participate in the after-hours (1:5) IR emergency rota and engage in multidisciplinary team activities to improve patient care.
* Support teaching and research activities, with opportunities to strengthen links with Aberdeen University and other academic collaborators.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Full GMC Registration and licence to practise; licence must be in place prior to starting.
* UK-trained candidates should have evidence of Higher Specialist Training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of interview.
* CESR or Portfolio Pathway applicants may apply for a substantive Consultant post only after registration is awarded; those with an International Recognised Specialist Qualification should be on the GMC Specialist Register.
* Locum Consultant posts may be considered (up to 12 months) for applicants not yet on the GMC Specialist Register, with a plan to obtain CESR or Portfolio Pathway registration during locum employment.
* Desirable sub-specialist experience in GI/Colorectal or Gynaecological intervention.
