Tesco Shift Leader – Days – Canterbury New Dover Express
Rate of pay: Starts from £14.76 an hour; increases to £15.97 for stores inside the M25. Additional payments may also apply depending on location.
Minimum guaranteed hours: 16 hours per week. Flexible to 12 hours if desired.
Availability windows:
* Sunday 15:00 – 23:00
* Monday 15:00 – 23:00
* Wednesday 06:30 – 15:00
* Thursday 06:30 – 15:00
* Friday 15:00 – 23:00
Key responsibilities:
* Work in a fast‑paced retail environment.
* Take ownership of running duty shifts, coordinating the team to deliver a clean, well‑stocked store that exceeds customer expectations.
* Support customers, ensuring they leave with what they came for.
* Look for ways to improve service, including coaching colleagues and giving feedback.
* Guide and support colleagues in‑store, maintaining safety.
* Keep track of store performance and assist managers in improving operations.
* Lead from the front, setting a great example for the team.
* Coordinate store team to deliver an easy, fuss‑free shopping experience.
* Support managers with seasonal, community and charity events.
* Keep the store clean, tidy and well‑presented.
* Ensure health and safety routines are followed.
* Celebrate and recognise good performance.
Qualifications:
* Minimum age 18 years.
* Strong customer service orientation.
* Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
* Clear communication skills across multiple channels.
* Comfortable with taking leadership in the absence of a manager.
* Good decision‑making and flexibility in dealing with change.
* Motivational ability to inspire team performance.
* Curiosity and initiative to improve service.
