ABOUT THE TEAM

The Rights Management Team is responsible for managing acquisition / distribution (rights in) and rights restrictions data across the BBC Studios portfolio. It is also responsible for servicing rights and contributor cost queries from Sales and other teams to ensure titles are marketed / sold in the knowledge of an accurate rights position.
Specifically, the Rights Coordinator is responsible for the accurate, consistent and timely interpretation and management of acquisitions and restrictions data on the BBC Studios rights management system, to meet business requirements.

This role will support BBC Studios Distribution in acquiring, creating and distributing Intellectual Property to maximise audience value and commercial return in a digital, global and commercial environment by:

* Providing excellent rights and restrictions data administration and guidance.
* Providing excellent business support and coordination.
* Using systems and processes efficiently and effectively.
* Building and maintaining strong, collaborative working relationships.


WHAT DOES IT TAKE?

KEY CRITERIA:

* Interprets rights and restrictions information from distribution agreements and associated documents / systems, and enters data into the BBC Studios rights management system. Ensures the database accurately reflects rights positions and supports end-to-end content management processes by monitoring and updating rights information and triggering event-based dates.
* Provides a contributor rights clearance cost-checking service for sales teams in response to availability queries run in the BBC Studios rights management system.
* Provides ad-hoc rights availability information in the form of written communication, face-to-face meetings and / or spreadsheet reports for individual requests, events and special projects.
* Proactively manages the BBC Studios portfolio of rights by identifying expiring acquisitions and restrictions impacting exploitation; resolving data conflicts; producing reports and supporting information for the Rights Executive to distribute to impacted business areas.
* With the Rights Executive, builds and maintains relationships with all rights stakeholders in the Business to ensure rights data is best in class and supports content management to prevent BBC Studios commercial activity resulting in legal or reputational harm.

DESIRABLE CRITERIA:

* An understanding of content acquisition and contributor intellectual property rights.
* Knowledge of internal and external rights systems and sources of information, an understanding of the rights model, and how the data is used is helpful but will be taught.
* An understanding of media landscape is desirable.

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION

Job Reference: 20553
Band: B
Salary: £24,800 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. The role is London based, include “London weighting at £5319”.

Location: London tvc, (this is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working)
