Forge Talent are Partnering an SME Manufacturing business based in South Manchester to recruit a Head of Finance on a permanent basis.
We're looking for a commercially minded finance leader to head up financial strategy and operations. This role oversees the full finance function, including management accounts, budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting, multi-currency cash management, and financial systems. You’ll also play a key role in shaping business strategy, supporting decision-making at board level, and leading cross-functional initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
* Lead the development and delivery of the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals.
* Provide financial insight to support strategic planning, trading decisions, and market positioning.
* Actively contribute to the Senior Management Team, helping shape overall business direction.
Financial Management & Compliance
* Oversee all core financial processes including monthly management accounts, year-end, audits, budgeting, and reforecasting.
* Ensure timely and accurate reporting across all statutory and compliance obligations (e.g. VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax, HMRC).
* Lead reporting and compliance.
Systems, Reporting & Controls
* Maintain and develop financial systems and controls, including ensuring the ERP system is fit for purpose.
* Support the business in building an effective data strategy and using financial and operational data to drive decisions.
* Manage cash flow, including foreign exchange and multi-currency operations.
Team Leadership
* Lead and develop the Finance and Credit Control teams, providing clear direction, coaching, and performance management.
* Ensure regular 1:1s, objective setting, and professional development are in place for direct reports.
* Promote financial understanding across the wider business through training and support.
Commercial & Operational Support
* Build strong working relationships with key suppliers and service providers, including IT and financial consultants.
* Support the evaluation, integration, and financial management of acquisitions.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support operational efficiency and growth.
Qualifications:
* ACA/ACCA/CIMA Qualified Accountant
* 3+ Years in a similar role
* Worked in an SME Environment before
Salary & Benefits
* £70,000-£80,000
* Bonus upto 20%
* Pension- 5/3
* 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays
