My client is a well-regarded, privately held, and largely self-funded business operating within the Construction, Property Development, and Investments Industry, with a history of over 40 years in the UK. The company is based in North London, making it accessible from Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire.
As part of the company's continued expansion both within the UK and internationally, FRS has been enlisted to assist with the recruitment of a Finance Director to join the business at this exciting time.
The current output of the business is around 50-80 units per year across London, the Home Counties, and the wider London Commuter Belt, which is expected to increase to 100-150 units per annum with the current pipeline.
This is a full-time, permanent position, playing a key role as part of a small finance team, taking a lead role in the Group's Construction and Property Development business (20 companies).
As Finance Director, you will work closely with the Group CEO, Chairman, and CFO (who focuses more on Group and Private Family Office duties).
* Reporting monthly management accounts to management and directors, with all supporting balance reconciliations.
* Preparing budgets and five-year forecasts for business plans.
* Reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations prepared by the Financial Controller.
* Managing cash flow forecasting for the business; reviewing daily cash flow and reporting a rolling 12-month forecast weekly to the board, with immediate reporting of exceptional items.
* Reviewing existing finance, ERP, analysis, and forecasting tools to ensure they are fit for purpose and scalable.
* Reviewing and strengthening the finance function to support business growth.
* Ensuring all financial reporting is accurate and timely.
* Handling group account consolidations for monthly reporting.
* Ensuring all statutory and payroll functions are completed timely, including tax payments.
* Liaising with surveyors and construction directors on cost valuation reports, work-in-progress reviews, and VAT matters.
* Preparing and filing statutory accounts and supporting monthly financial reporting to reduce audit costs.
* Collaborating with Directors on land and site acquisitions.
* Supporting the Group CFO with Family Office finance matters, including international property portfolios, investments, charities, trusts, and tax matters.
The ideal candidate will be or have experience in the following areas:
* Qualified (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 3-5+ years PQE.
* Strong background in Property Development, House Building, or Construction.
* Experience within an SME or private business with a turnover of £10-80m.
* A hands-on approach, comfortable working as part of a small finance team.
* Experience in evolving, improving, and expanding SME processes, controls, and systems.
* Living within commuting distance to North London, with an expectation to work onsite frequently to collaborate with the Group CFO and Chairman.
