Hexagon Care Services is a national provider of residential care, education, and therapy for young people. With over 80 homes and schools across England, we collaborate closely with local authorities to provide specialised services, including therapeutic care, crisis intervention, and support for children with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. Our mission is to offer safe, stable environments where young people can build resilience and develop skills for a brighter future.
The Role
We’re looking for a Senior Residential Support Worker to join our new team. This role is perfect for someone with at least 12 months’ experience in a children’s residential home, who is passionate about making a real impact. Supporting the opening of the home, you’ll play a key role in creating a positive, nurturing home environment where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered. Ideally you will be qualified in residential childcare, however, if you don’t hold the qualification but have the experience we very much want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
1. Support young people in a range of activities, including cooking, cleaning, outings, and taking part in games and appointments.
2. Manage challenging behaviours effectively and professionally, with support from senior staff and therapeutic services.
3. Create a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for young people, ensuring they feel heard and valued.
4. Collaborate with psychologists and the therapy team to establish appropriate boundaries and strategies for supporting the children in your care.
What We’re Looking For:
5. A genuine passion for safeguarding, motivating, and inspiring young people.
6. Ability to demonstrate and lead by example, sharing best practices with your team.
7. Experience with challenging behaviour, with the ability to handle such situations calmly and professionally.
8. Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and sleep-ins.
9. Experience of working in a residential home for children is essential for the role (minimum of 12 months experience) having a relevant qualification is advantageous, although not essential. Please note, we cannot accept adult care experience, nursery experience, or school experience as equivalent.
Benefits of Working at Hexagon Care Services:
10. Death in Service (4x salary)
11. Free, on-site parking
12. Electric vehicle scheme
13. Free access to Employee Assistance Programme
14. Blue Light Card
15. Long Service Payments
16. Cycle to Work Scheme
17. Ofsted outstanding bonus payment
18. Pension
*Please note that the above figures are based on holding an equivalent qualification. If you do not have this qualification but have the 12+ months experience working specifically in a children's home, please do get in contact with us.
*We are committed to being fair and non-discriminatory in our recruitment practices. Where a service already has sufficient drivers in post, we will do all we reasonably can to accommodate applicants who do not drive, and in those instances, the driving requirement may be considered desirable rather than essential. However, as a care provider, the safety, welfare, and needs of the young people we support must always take priority, as such, this may mean that driving may be listed as being essential for some of our posts.
Please note, Hexagon Care Services does not hold a sponsorship licence and as such we are unable to support any candidates who do not already have right to work. This is a permanent position, if you have right to work but with an expiry date, we are more than welcome to receive your application but please note you would only be eligible for an interim contract linked to your RTW expiry.
All hiring managers at Hexagon Care Services are trained by safer recruitment consortium accredited trainers, and all positions in regulated activity with children will be required to undergo safer recruitment and onboarding checks prior to commencement. This will include an enhanced DBS and/or children’s barred list check.
Feedback timescales - Candidates who apply via CV (Indeed etc) may not hear a response due to volume of applicants, candidates who complete application forms via our career's portal will be provided with feedback irrespective of outcome.
