Job Summary

We are seeking a friendly, organised and proactive Administrator to support our new Rector and the life and work of our church here in Sidmouth. This is a flexible, part-time role ideal for someone who has a range of administrative gifts to offer, who values community and is comfortable with a range of MS365/web/digital tools.

We are based in the heart of Sidmouth with a growing congregation and beautiful church building. You will be joining an active and sociable team of lay and clergy members who lead our work, worship and outreach in the community.

Responsibilities

* Providing PA / administrative support to the Rector to enable their focus on mission and pastoral activities.
* Office management: including the day to day running of our church management system (CMS) and databases, maintaining the online church diary.
* Hospitality: acting as a first point of contact and welcome to the church by telephone, by email and in person at the office.
* Ministry support: managing the administrative arrangements for regular church worship including assisting with preparation of service rotas, liaising with our ministry team and administration of weddings, baptisms and funerals.
* Communications: including producing the weekly news sheet, creating content for and updating the church's website and social media, producing posters for church events, providing information for newcomers and visitors, communications through CMS, printing the monthly magazine.
* Church Council (PCC) meetings support: Taking minutes for 6-8 PCC meetings a year including the annual church parish council meeting. (If meetings are held in the evening, TOIL may be taken (usually within 6 working days of the meeting))
* Assisting with administration of events and bookings of the church building by external organisations.
* To undertake other reasonable tasks as required by the Rector.

Qualifications

* Proven experience within an administrative role.
* Strong organisational skills, able to prioritise and to plan ahead, working to deadlines while paying attention to detail.
* Experienced and confident in using Microsoft 365 suite, Sharepoint and Publisher, Canva or similar digital design programme.
* Experienced and confident in creating content for and updating websites and social media platforms.
* Able to work independently and with others and to balance competing requests for support.
* Able to keep information confidential.
* An effective and confident communicator, verbal and written.
* A good listener who is empathetic to the needs of others.
* A positive, engaging and friendly manner.

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £10,500.00-£11,500.00 per year

Expected hours: 15 per week
