The Vacancy

Are you passionate about helping older people live safely, independently, and with dignity? Do you enjoy working closely with tenants and partners to make a real difference in your community? If so, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re looking for a compassionate and proactive Neighbourhood Officer – Older People’s Services to join Wythenshawe Community Housing Group (WCHG). You’ll be at the heart of our Living and Ageing Well Strategy, supporting residents across our sheltered and supported housing schemes, and helping to create vibrant, inclusive communities for older people.

About the Role

As a Neighbourhood Officer, you’ll deliver high-quality housing management services to tenants living in our older people’s schemes and supported housing. You’ll manage tenancies, ensure compliance and safety, and work with residents to promote wellbeing, inclusion, and independence.

You’ll also build strong partnerships with health, social care, and community organisations—supporting residents through change, tackling tenancy issues early, and empowering tenants to have their voices heard in shaping local services.

What You’ll Be Doing

1. Deliver effective housing management across sheltered and older people’s schemes

2. Carry out tenancy and estate management duties, including allocations and low-level ASB

3. Visit tenants regularly to support wellbeing, independence, and tenancy sustainment

4. Work with residents on health and wellbeing activities to reduce isolation and promote active ageing

5. Support residents with rightsizing opportunities and adaptations to help them live in homes that meet their needs

6. Promote and support the use of assistive technology and digital inclusion initiatives

7. Build partnerships with agencies such as the NHS, Social Services, and community providers

8. Keep accurate records, manage budgets and service charges, and maintain compliance with health, safety, and safeguarding requirements

What We’re Looking For

9. Experience in housing management or a similar customer-focused role

10. Knowledge of tenancy and estate management, especially within older people’s or supported housing

11. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with empathy and resilience

12. Ability to manage complex situations and handle sensitive issues with professionalism

13. Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion

14. Confident working independently and as part of a wider housing and wellbeing team

15. Good IT skills and experience maintaining accurate tenancy records

16. A full UK driving licence is desirable

A housing-related qualification would be an advantage, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
