Data Engineer
Grade 4 £32,076 to £39,186. Consultation grade subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Permanent, Full-time, 36.5 hours per week (hybrid working – typically 1-2 days a week in the Council House and be able to attend key meetings across Birmingham in person when required)

In the Children and Families Directorate at Birmingham City Council we are looking for an innovative and dedicated Data Engineer. We’re embarking on a one-of-a-kind improvement journey that will affect families across Birmingham. We’re putting a data driven approach using digital tools at the heart of this improvement journey to make sure we can design and deliver services that allow children and young people in Birmingham to thrive.
We’re looking for dynamic and experienced data professionals to join a team of data engineers to ensure the directorate has trusted and timely data that will enable us to deliver positive outcomes for our Children and Young People.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll be working on schools and education data. You will be responsible for maintaining the necessary systems and governance in place so that our data is accurate, assured and available to produce insightful and impactful analysis. You will manage a range of data projects to build products, pipelines and services using the best of modern data technologies and platforms to enable continuous insight and value to our staff and residents.
You’ll support the creation of business and user value from data by undertaking significant engineering projects which combine and enhance data from external data sources, back office and customer facing systems and utilise analytical techniques to develop data products derive insights and opportunities to improve performance and service delivery.
About You
An established professional with a degree level qualification in a relevant subject, you’ll have substantial project and data management experience. You’ll have proven project and data management experience working in multidisciplinary product teams to design and implement master data management strategies and solutions using a range of applications.
