Job Summary
Radiology Physics is part of the expanding Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Department, which is raising its profile within the Trust and building networks with other Trusts and Universities. We provide scientific, technical, and regulatory support to X-ray, ultrasound, and laser facilities across the Trust. Training and development are actively encouraged and supported. The current team comprises 10 staff members, including clinical scientists, technologists, a medical physics radiographer, and a technical administrator. Staff surveys indicate a valued, listened-to, and supported workforce with a fair, inclusive, and positive culture.
Main duties of the job
* Operate with high autonomy providing specialised scientific, technical, and regulatory expertise, often of complex nature, to the Trust and other organisations.
* Plan and manage your workload and projects, prioritising and adapting to urgent requests.
* Work with the Radiology Physics Team Lead to ensure a safe, efficient, and effective service.
* Act as at least two of the following statutory roles: Medical Physics Expert (MPE), Radiation Protection Adviser (RPA), Radioactive Waste Adviser (RWA).
* Support the chair of the Trust Radiation Advisory Committee by implementing and auditing legislation and guidance in radiation protection.
* Play a key role in teaching, training, and developing staff for statutory roles and accreditation.
* Initiate and participate in research and development activities.
* Be accountable for supervising staff and students.
* Maintain accreditation for RPA, MPE, RWA roles in accordance with legislation.

Qualifications and Experience
* Honours degree and MSc in relevant subjects
* MIPEM, HCPC registration, MPE, RPA, and RWA certifications
Desirable qualifications include a PhD, CSci, and management training. Extensive experience in diagnostic radiology physics, radiation protection, and effective communication skills are essential. Additional desirable skills include publication record, project management, and advising on radiation safety.
