Purpose of the Job
The post will provide research support to a project funded by the All-Wales Policing Academic Collaboration exploring public attitudes and experiences of stop and search in Wales. The project is a collaboration with Public Health Wales and police across Wales to build the evidence base on public perceptions and trust in police stop and search practices, with aims to improve police–community relationships and foster ongoing collaboration.
The post-holder will support the development and implementation of the project, including ethical approval, quantitative data analysis, qualitative research, study coordination, and assisting with report/paper writing. The post is part of the Public Health Collaborating Unit, funded by Public Health Wales, and based in the School of Health Sciences at Bangor University, Wrexham. Work plan led by Dr Kat Ford.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the research team in the collection and analysis of qualitative data (e.g., drafting ethical applications, data collection, data management, data analyses, preparation of research outputs).
* Support the analysis of quantitative data (data management, coding, analyses, and preparation of tables/figures for outputs).
* Contribute to development of research outcomes (reports, journal publications, conference materials, liaising with external providers for design/translation of outputs).
* Assist and support the administration of the project (arranging meetings, circulating information, minute taking, preparing reports for funders).

Person Specification
Qualifications / Training
* Postgraduate degree with a strong research component in health, public health or other scientific, psychological or sociological subject.
Experience / Knowledge
* Previous experience of mixed-methods research.
* Previous experience of working in applied public health research.
* Knowledge and interest in areas related to the post.
* Understanding and application of research and information governance processes, policies and procedures.
Skills / Abilities
* Excellent verbal and written skills.
* Good computer skills (MS Office, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Ability to use research software (e.g., SPSS).
* Strong analytical skills and ability to present results clearly.
* Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable
* Attention to detail and proofreading skills.
* Presentation skills.
* Flexible hours when required; Welsh language communication desirable (opportunity to learn Welsh).
