Specialist Mental Health and ASC Mentors – Stirling Are you a qualified professional looking for meaningful work that uses all of your skills and fits around school holidays? UMO is a leading UK provider of specialist mental health, autism, neurodiversity and wellbeing mentoring. We partner with over 70 universities and colleges to deliver DSA-funded mentoring that helps students progress, stay in education and thrive personally and academically. About the Role We are recruiting Specialist Mental Health Mentors and Specialist ASC Mentors in Stirling to support students with diagnosed mental health conditions, autism and ADHD at undergraduate and postgraduate level. You’ll meet students one-to-one, in person, delivering practical strategies and reflective support that reduce barriers to learning, build independence and improve wellbeing. This is a flexible, term-time role with a competitive rate of £25.00 – £27.00 per hour, plus holiday pay, pension, sick pay and clinical supervision. We welcome applicants able to commit to 25 hours per week during term time. Requirements: Specialist Mental Health Mentor Honours degree in any subject Professional accreditation with one of: BACP, UKCP, HCPC, NMC, Social Work England, or equivalent Qualification in a mental-health-related discipline (e.g. counselling, psychotherapy, clinical psychology, mental health nursing, occupational therapy, social work) Eligibility under SFE Mandatory Criteria for Band 4 Specialist Mentor – Mental Health (SM-MH) Minimum 1 year post-qualification experience supporting adults or young people with mental health conditions Strong skills in reflective practice, risk awareness and practical strategy work Understanding of the higher education environment Requirements: Specialist ASC Mentor Honours degree in any subject Eligibility under SFE Mandatory Criteria for Band 4 Specialist Mentor – Autism Spectrum Conditions (SM-ASC) Minimum 3 years’ experience supporting autistic young people or adults (including those with ADHD) Knowledge of practical strategies for supporting ASC and ADHD Training or qualification in autism support, education, psychology, or related field Understanding of neurodiversity and inclusive education What We Offer Competitive pay – £25.00 – £27.00 per hour Flexible hours around university term dates Holiday pay, pension and sick pay Regular clinical supervision, CPD and professional development Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) Supportive, experienced multidisciplinary team What You’ll Do Provide one-to-one mentoring for students with mental health or neurodivergent conditions Help students manage the impact of their condition on study and daily life Promote independence, resilience and wellbeing Support organisation, time management and study strategies Monitor wellbeing, assess risk and escalate appropriately Maintain GDPR-compliant records and safeguarding standards Liaise with universities, GPs and other professionals when required Job Details Location: Stirling (in person) Contract: Zero-hours, flexible Pay: £25.00 – £27.00 per hour Hours: Minimum 25 per week during term time How to Apply If you are a qualified professional ready to make a difference to students’ lives in Stirling or nearby, we’d love to hear from you.
