Senior Quantity Surveyor – Major EPC Project (Mechanical Focus)

Overview
An established industrial EPC contractor is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of a £115m+ engineering and construction project based at a large-scale chemical processing facility in Hull. This is a site-based role with a mechanical subcontract package bias (valued over £20m), working under NEC4 Option B (BOQ, Remeasure). It’s an ideal opportunity for a mechanically biased QS looking to step into a complex, multi-disciplinary delivery environment with long-term progression and high visibility across both commercial and project controls teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Full commercial ownership of a £20m+ mechanical and pipework subcontract package, including fabrication and installation scopes
* Manage subcontractor accounts, including payment certification, variations, CEQs, EWNs, and final account settlements
* Work closely with the Project Commercial Manager to support wider reporting, forecasting, and client interface
* Support the month-end reporting cycle including cost value reconciliations, accruals, and margin analysis
* Carry out remeasurement and BOQ updates in line with NEC4 Option B obligations and standard methods (SMM7 / NRM2)
* Collaborate with the planning and project controls teams to align commercial and programme deliverables
* Support mentoring of junior commercial staff and contribute to commercial governance and best practice on site
* Use SAP and Power BI to analyse cost data, trends, and package performance
Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a commercially astute and delivery-focused Senior QS with the following:
* Significant experience in subcontract management on mechanical / piping packages within large-scale EPC, industrial, or process plant projects
* Strong working knowledge of NEC4 Option B contract administration
* Comfortable working in a site-based role within an integrated delivery team (minimum 3 days/week onsite in Hull)
* Familiar with project environments governed by NAECI or similar industrial frameworks (desirable)
* Experience using SAP, Power BI, and standard remeasurement practices (SMM7 / NRM2)
* Base Salary: Up to £80,000+, depending on experience
* Living Away Allowance OR Hotel & Travel Expenses: reimbursed (if not local)
