Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting an Ofsted-rated 'Good' 2-form entry primary school in Runcorn that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated teaching assistant on a full-time long-term contract from September. This is a long-term contract that will last the length of the academic year within an extremely supportive and welcoming school. You will play an integral part of the school's resource base team.
Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be based within a speech and language resource base. You will be supporting a small class of 12 pupils, taking a pupil-centred approach to their education as to ensure that the individual needs and personalities are met, which will in turn ensure that each student reaches their full academic potential. As you will be supporting pupils with speech and language requirements (ranging from non-verbal to selective mutism), you will lead on speech and language interventions, using phonics, Letters and Sounds, Makaton, PECs and associative techniques to promote engagement and attainment outcomes. As well as leading on interventions, you will at times work alongside external professionals, including a speech and language psychologist.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full 'Right to Work' in the UK as well as relevant referenceable classroom experience, as well as:
* Experience delivering speech and language interventions
* Experience using phonics and letters and sounds
* Experience using Makaton and PECs
* An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
