An experienced Adult Registered Nurse is sought to join the AMU Assessment team as Deputy Ward Manager. AMU Assessment is a 23‑bed acute assessment unit and an ambulatory emergency care (AEC) unit within the Emergency Quadrant, dedicated to acute medicine and emergency admissions from the ED and GPs.
Key responsibilities
* Support the Ward Manager with day‑to‑day management of the ward.
* Act as acting Ward Manager in their absence.
* Ensure the ward operates efficiently and that staff adhere to Health Board policies, NMC guidelines and code of practice.
* Provide clinical advice, leadership and expertise to the nursing team.
* Supervise, nurture and develop the knowledge and skills of nursing staff.
* Promote mental health care within the unit.
Person specification
Essential criteria
* Sufficient post‑registration nursing experience.
* Experience working in an acute care setting.
* Insight into acute medicine.
* Evidence of leadership and supporting staff development.
* Ability to lead and work within a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable criteria
* Welsh language ability (desirable).
* Advanced clinical skills and cannulation experience.
* Leadership qualification and experience as a practice supervisor/assessor.
* Experience with e‑rostering and PADRS systems.
* Take charge in fast‑paced environments.
