Job Opportunity: Experienced Buyer
Join our team at a modest factory capable of producing up to 200,000 meals a week. We are seeking an experienced buyer to optimize sourcing strategies, build strong supplier relationships, and drive cost-effective and sustainable purchasing decisions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers offering the best value in price, quality, service, and sustainability.
2. Cost Improvement: Continuously challenge the status quo to improve cost efficiency, reduce waste, and promote sustainable and ethical sourcing practices.
3. Supplier Management: Develop strong partnerships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and monitor performance to ensure reliability and value.
4. Market Analysis: Stay informed on market trends, commodity prices, and global supply chain dynamics to support informed purchasing decisions.
5. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with Production, Quality Assurance, NPD, and Finance teams to align procurement with business objectives and product needs.
6. Inventory Control: Maintain optimal stock levels to support production while minimizing costs and obsolescence.
7. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure purchases comply with food safety regulations, company standards, and sustainability policies.
8. Data-Driven Decisions: Utilize procurement analytics and KPIs to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications & Skills
* Proven experience in procurement within food manufacturing or FMCG sectors.
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
* Knowledge of food industry standards (e.g., BRC, HACCP).
* Passion for sustainable and ethical sourcing.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage priorities.
* Proficiency with procurement systems, Microsoft Excel, and ERP systems (a plus).
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per year
Schedule: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday
Location: In person with some hybrid working options for suitable candidates
