Vision Display Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d)
We are looking for a world-class mechanical engineer to join a team that is making a big difference in the future of Apple. A successful candidate will not only need to develop new technologies and architect novel opto-mechanical modules but also educate a broad audience of people at Apple about their benefits and tradeoffs. The team features a broad engineering roster including mechanical engineers, optical engineers, human perception experts, product design engineers, and experimental physicists, which presents an outstanding opportunity to influence and learn from a diverse group of experts.
Description
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Design micro-mechanical systems using 3D CAD, such as NX, AutoCAD or Solidworks.
2. Modeling and characterization of complex mechanical systems using FEA packages such as COMSOL or Ansys.
3. Crafting micro-actuation hardware.
4. Using structural analysis and CAD tools to architect new modules and assess their expected performance and limitations.
5. Identifying and implementing critical metrics and specifications to deliver performance that matters to product specifications, and associated characterization techniques.
6. Influencing product-level decisions using tools and methods such as simulation, prototyping, and lab characterization.
7. Building custom unit tests, and metrology hardware and performing hands-on measurements in the lab.
8. Working with suppliers to develop actuation modules, bring up test platforms, and perform statistical analysis of data to determine performance and quality.
9. Visiting suppliers to support engineering builds and help with failure analysis activities.
Minimum Qualifications
* Several years of experience in related fields.
* Consistent record, from early stage development through to manufacture and delivery.
* Hands-on experience in modeling, prototyping, conducting design experiments, and analytical data processing.
* Experience with running finite element analysis, implementing failure analysis, and performing hands-on measurements, preferably for actuator applications.
Preferred Qualifications
* Bachelor or Master or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or equivalent with extensive years of working experience or PhD in a relevant field with proven years of working experience.
* Willingness to pick up novel tasks and acquire new skills is desirable.
* Experience managing domestic and international vendors is a huge plus.
