Head of Clinical Governance & Quality
Reports To: Managing Director
Reporting to the Managing Director, the position of Head of Clinical Governance & Quality is responsible for providing overall direction for quality, safety and patient experience efforts. The role supports the Medical Director, Clinical Leadership and other stakeholders in ensuring quality outcomes, patient safety and patient‑centric care. It oversees the development and implementation of the integrated governance framework, quality, safety and patient experience policies and operating procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversees all quality, safety and regulatory and risk management activities
* Oversees the implementation of the integrated governance framework in line with the regulatory body – CQC
* Line manager of Governance Team
* Ensures a safe environment for patients, families and healthcare professionals that meets regulatory and accreditation standards
* Develops and implements, in cooperation with Nursing and Clinical Operations, patient care policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols and periodically updates them as needed
* Ensures the highest quality of professional practice in all clinical and nursing divisions and departments and ensures all safety, health and regulatory requirements are met in all areas of responsibility
* Develops and implements systems and protocols to effectively monitor clinical outcomes, safety events and patient experience measures; leads improvement efforts to improve measures
* Provides leadership with in‑depth knowledge of national and international trends regarding quality, patient safety and experience
* Responsible for maintaining compliance as governed by UK statutory and regulatory bodies including Care Quality Commission (CQC), the Information Commissioner Office (ICO), Public Health England and Health & Safety Executive (HSE)
* Develops and supports organization‑wide quality, safety and patient experience strategies that improve the overall patient experience including clinical care, physical environment, as well as emotional needs of patients, families and employees
* Oversees the operations of patient experience data reporting
Other responsibilities as required according to the needs of the business, and a flexible approach to the role given the dynamic nature of the organisation as it continues to grow and develop
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
* Bachelor’s Degree required
* Extensive experience in quality & governance leadership
* Experience of managing CQC inspections
* Proven track record of achieving “Good” or “Outstanding” following a CQC inspection
* Registered Healthcare Professional
