Health & Safety Manager
The Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining robust health, safety, and environmental (HSE) systems across all company projects. Working closely with the SHEQ Coordinator, the postholder ensures compliance with legislation, promotes safe working practices, and supports project teams in delivering operational excellence. Together, they drive a proactive safety culture and ensure effective SHEQ support across the organisation.
Responsibilities
* Proactively develop and manage HSE objectives that drive continual improvement and support the company’s long‑term growth.
* Provide strategic leadership for the company’s Health & Safety vision, ensuring it aligns with organisational goals and the specific needs of each project.
* Provide guidance and coaching to management to ensure site actions are in alignment with company HSE policies.
* Periodically inspect, audit and review safe work practices to ensure compliance with regulations and company policies.
* Work collaboratively with the SHEQ Coordinator to embed consistent standards and processes across all projects.
* Review and develop policies, procedures, and safe systems of work, ensuring consistency across all projects.
* Support the implementation of client specific safety requirements across all project teams.
* Work jointly with the SHEQ Coordinator to prepare project specific RAMS and HSE plans.
* Support and prepare for internal and external audits, accreditation renewals and client audits.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement in health, safety, and environmental practices across the organisation.
* Oversee incident investigations, with the SHEQ Coordinator assisting with documentation, reporting, and action tracking.
* Collaborate with clients, regulators, contractors and internal teams on all HSE matters.
* Represent the company during inspections, external audits (ISO management systems) and HSE forums.
As the Health & Safety Manager, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment across all operational areas. You will lead on safety protocols, risk assessments, compliance, and the development of a strong safety culture.
What is needed:
* NEBOSH National Diploma (or equivalent)
* Experience supporting multiple projects or sites
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations
* Motivated to improve overall safety culture across all projects
* Adaptable and responsive to changing business needs
