Non-Executive Director – Diamond Light Source Board
Appointment Term: initial term of four years with a possibility of reappointment.
Remuneration: £5,000 per annum. Travel and subsistence expenses will be reimbursed.
Time Commitment: Attend four in-person Board meetings per year, plus occasional consultations with Board members, the Executive Team, and Shareholders as needed.
Location: Meetings held at Diamond Light Source Limited, Harwell Oxford Science and Innovation Campus, Didcot, Oxfordshire.
About Diamond Light Source: Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, operating an advanced particle accelerator to generate synchrotron light for scientific research across various disciplines, fostering innovation and discoveries that benefit society.
About the role: UKRI, via STFC, seeks a experienced individual to join as a Non-Executive Director, helping shape the strategic direction, uphold governance standards, and support performance at Diamond Light Source.

What we’re looking for:
Leadership in Life Sciences research, with a track record in multidisciplinary environments and understanding of how synchrotron facilities address life and medical science challenges.
You will bring:
* Strategic leadership experience at senior or non-executive levels in large/complex organizations.
* Knowledge of UK and international research funding landscapes and policy reforms.
* Understanding of science, innovation, commercialization, and the knowledge economy.
* Strong analytical and strategic decision-making skills.
* Excellent communication and collaborative skills with high integrity.
* Ability to provide constructive challenge and uphold ethical standards.
