Role Purpose
The Plant Manager will provide strategic and technical leadership for the development and delivery of medical gas plant systems across their full lifecycle from manufacture to handover.
As the company’s subject matter expert, the role is accountable for ensuring all plant solutions are compliant, standardised, and commercially robust, while driving innovation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. The position works closely with the Plant & Service Director to shape technical strategy, enhance capability, and support long‑term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Governance
Act as the technical authority for all medical gas plant systems.
Define and maintain engineering standards, design governance, and best practice.
Ensure full compliance with HTM 02-01 and relevant UK/EU standards.
Lead technical assurance, risk management, and design approval processes.
Develop and maintain standardised plant designs, specifications, and documentation.
2. Strategic Project Oversight
Provide technical leadership across all projects from concept to handover.
Oversee project performance, ensuring delivery aligns with programme, quality, and commercial objectives.
Act as senior technical interface with key stakeholders, including NHS Trusts, private healthcare providers, and supply chain partners.
Support bid strategy, technical submissions, and commercial risk review.
3. Operational Excellence & Supply Chain
Drive consistency and efficiency across design, procurement, and manufacturing processes.
Establish and maintain robust supplier frameworks, approvals, and performance standards.
Collaborate with manufacturing and delivery teams to optimise build quality, lead times, and cost control.
Lead initiatives to improve system performance, reliability, and standardisation.
Support audits, compliance reviews, and resolution of non‑conformances.
Identify opportunities for innovation and contribute to the development of new plant technologies and solutions.
Provide oversight of testing, commissioning, and validation activities.
Ensure robust documentation, verification, and compliance prior to handover.
Maintain accountability for technical integrity through to final client acceptance.
Experience / Requirements
* Proven project and contract management experience within mechanical, construction, or M&E environments.
* Experience with medical and/or industrial gas systems.
* Confident working within NHS Trusts and regulated settings.
* Strong organisational and leadership skills with commercial awareness.
* Highly organised, proactive, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
* Full U.K. driving licence.
