Trade experience - Throughout your apprenticeship, you’ll have the opportunity to build a broad range of practical skills and real-world experience. Tool kit and uniform - You will receive a tool kit and uniform to support you throughout your apprenticeship. You will Work across different areas of the organisation, gaining insight into how our Property Services teams operate and how we deliver high-quality repairs and maintenance for our tenants. Spend time on-site with our approved contractors, allowing you to experience different working environments, methods and techniques used in the industry. Develop a wide set of hands-on skills, supported by experienced professionals who will guide you as you progress. Build confidence and competence in your chosen trade, preparing you for a successful long-term career. Your main trade will be in Carpentry, but as part of your apprenticeship you will be expected to learn and support skills of other trades outside of your main trade. By the end of the programme, you’ll have a strong foundation of knowledge, real workplace experience, and an industry-recognised qualification — all setting you up for future success. What We Expect from You Qualifications To join the programme, you’ll need: GCSE Maths and English (or Welsh if it’s your first language) at Grades A–C (if you are a school leaver this year you will need to be predicted to have these required grades and provide evidence of this) or the equivalent Essential Skills Level 2 in both subjects All apprentices must provide evidence of these qualifications before the start date. If this isn’t received, or you do not achieve your predicted grades offers will be withdrawn. Ability to travel You’ll work across Neath Port Talbot, supporting our in‑house teams as well as our contractors. You must be able to travel throughout the Neath Port Talbot borough/ get to our head office in Baglan every workday and to Neath Port talbot college (Campus TBC). A commitment to learning Whether you’re starting your career or looking for a new direction, we’re looking for curious, motivated learners ready to grow. An aspiration to drive From age 17 onwards, you’ll need the ambition to learn to drive. Gaining a full driving licence is essential for progressing into a fully qualified Trade Operative role with Tai Tarian. The Details Full time – 35 hours per week (Monday to Friday) Typical working hours: 8:00am – 15:30pm (times may change on college days) Paid time to attend Neath Port Talbot college (Campus TBC) one day per week 4 year fixed-term contract aligned to your qualification 25 days per year rising to 28 after 3 years’ service, 31 to 5 years’ service plus bank holidays Salary: 16–17 years: £8.00 per hour 18–20 years: £10.85 per hour 21 years: £12.71 per hour You can learn more about us and the role in our candidate pack and role profile.
