Job Summary

Urgent care Advanced Practitioner Lead (PA/NP) will be divided between Clinical Care (80%) and Administrative Responsibilities (20%).


Clinical

Provide a wide variety of clinical services including treatment of acute episodic conditions such as sore throats, colds, flu-like symptoms, cuts, sprains and minor infections. Functioning in lieu of or alongside a physician, it is essential for an urgent care Advanced Practitioner to have excellent assessment skills to recognize more serious conditions and direct the patient to the emergency room for advanced care when necessary.


Administrative

Lead AP on the clinical leadership team with responsibilities including EMR training and efficacy, procedure/skills training, and acting as a project implementation manager for special projects and initiatives. In-clinic mentoring, real-time observation and direct feedback to APs will be expected. Lead AP, with the clinical leadership team, will assist with schedule management, chart review, patient quality/satisfaction initiatives, cover assigned Regional Physician Lead duties during sick-leave or PTO, and any other administrative duties at the discretion of the Medical Director. Will participate in clinical leadership meetings and disseminate best practices to all providers and staff.


Job Requirements


Education

* Bachelor\'s Degree required for Physician Assistants
* Master\'s Degree required for Nurse Practitioners


Work Experience

* Minimum 12 months experience in an urgent care or similar clinical environment required
* Adult and pediatric practice experience strongly preferred
* Prior Administrative responsibilities


Required Licenses/Certifications

* National Certification
* Active state medical licensure


Additional Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required

* Work experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting
* Applicable office procedures including suturing, splinting, etc.


Additional Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Preferred

* Knowledge and experience with Electronic Medical Records
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Strong listening skills
* Strong customer service skills


Essential Functions

Essential functions are those tasks, duties and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job\’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job.


Job Responsibilities

* Examining and treating patients
* Taking patients’ medical histories
* Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and X-rays
* Making diagnoses and prescribing medications
* Treating minor injuries that may require sutures, splints, or casting
* Recording progress notes for follow-up patients
* Educating and counseling patients
* Ordering and/or carrying out therapy with patients
* Giving vaccinations, and referring patients to additional care
* Crafting a schedule that includes at least 32 hours/week clinical care on average
* Locations of clinics to be staffed will be based on clinic need and will be at the discretion of the Medical Director
* All clinical hours worked over 32 hours/week on average will be paid at the provider\'s hourly rate


Administrative Duties

* Provide a wide variety of administrative duties including: AP leader on the clinical leadership team, EMR training and efficacy, procedure/skills training, and act as a project implementation manager for special projects and initiatives
* In-clinic mentoring, real-time observation and direct feedback to APs
* Lead AP, with the clinical leadership team, will assist with schedule management, chart review, patient quality/satisfaction initiatives, cover assigned Associate Medical Director duties during sick-leave or PTO, and other administrative duties per Medical Director
* Lead AP will be an active member of clinical leadership meetings and disseminate best practices to all providers and staff


Qualifications

* Bachelor\'s or Master\'s Degree as PA, clinical training, and licensed as PA
* At least 12 months experience in an urgent care or similar clinical environment
* Prior administrative responsibilities
* Ability to communicate effectively
* Strong listening skills and customer service
