RAC Garage Network - Sales Development Manager

Salary: From £30,000 (circa £40k with OTE)

Hours: Mon-Fri | 37.5 hours | 9am-5pm

Location: Home-Based (with occasional travel to Bescot, Manchester or Bristol)


About Us

We have an exciting opportunity for Sales Development Manager to join the RAC on a full-time, permanent basis, working fully remote (with occasional travel to one of our sites). We are on a mission to expand and strengthen our associated Garage Network, helping us continue to grow, connect members with trusted repair solutions, and support RAC and our partners as recognised industry-leading brands. As part of this growth, we’re looking for a proactive and driven Sales Development Manager to join our team.


The Role

As a Sales Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in expanding our garage network, building strong relationships, and ensuring high levels of partner satisfaction. You’ll be responsible for identifying new opportunities, engaging prospective garages and managing your pipeline of leads and objection handle during sales calls to convert and onboard new garage partners onto the network.

This is a telephone-based job and involves researching prospective garage partners, matching them with RAC requirements and cold-calling to sell in the RAC Garage Network Proposition.


Key Responsibilities

* Proactively expand our associated Garage Network in line with company growth plans.
* Connect with potential customers through outbound calls and other communication channels.
* Secure new garage prospects as members and liaise with the aftersales team for onboarding.
* Accurately enter, maintain, and update customer information within the CRM system.
* Promote and sell additional company services in line with targets.
* Report progress, performance, and opportunities to the RAC Garage Network Channel Lead.


Experience & Background

* 3+ years’ experience in new business telesales.
* Proven experience in customer cold calling.
* Proven experience in proactive pipeline generation, from research through to new business conversion.
* Demonstrable ability to self-start and work independently.
* Experience within the automotive sector desired but not essential as full training will be provided.

* Cold calling telesales
* Confidence and resilience
* Strong ability to manage multiple prospect clients and prioritise workloads.
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to close sales and drive results.
* Willingness to travel to client sites as required.


Knowledge & Technical Skills

* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel essential).
* Skilled in researching, planning, influencing, and communication.
* High level of initiative, creativity, perseverance, and flexibility.
* Ability to clearly articulate proposals and explain rationales confidently.
* Strong listening and communication skills across all levels.
* Self-motivated with a hands-on, proactive approach.
