At SP Energy Networks, our focus is on harnessing technology and innovation to create the networks of the future. Our team is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity — and increasingly, renewable electricity — safely, securely, and sustainably in the communities we serve. We’re investing in smarter, greener infrastructure to support the UK’s Net Zero ambitions. We know people are central to building a better future, quicker, and we are seeking new talent to join our team to help us get there. We’re looking for an LV Operations Manager to join our Customer Service team at SP Energy Networks. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee the daily operations of the low voltage distribution network, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and reliability. As this role evolves, you will be managing a team of technicians and incident controllers and implementing operational strategies to enhance customer service. What You’ll Be Doing You’ll be responsible for minimising risk to the low voltage network by coordinating activities with the Distribution Operations management teams to ensure all planned and unplanned work is completed promptly, cost-effectively, and with the correct priorities. You’ll also ensure that collaboration with the HV Control Room delivers the highest standards of safety compliance and customer service, in line with SPEN’s strategic goals. A key part of your role will be mentoring your team, fostering a strong team culture, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders — including HSE, DESNZ, OFGEM, SPD, and other DNOs — to manage risk and support the delivery of our ambitious investment plans. You’ll also be responsible for developing robust policies and strategies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and representing SPM in government-led industry groups. Your work will directly contribute to building a resilient network as we transition towards Net Zero. Lead and develop the LV Operations team, fostering a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all safety legislation. Oversee daily operations and coordinate with Distribution Control, Planning, and other internal teams to ensure efficient delivery of planned and unplanned work. Manage interfaces with the HV Control Room and other departments to maintain high standards of safety, reliability, and customer service. Develop and implement operational strategies, including resource planning and performance management, aligned with the annual Operating Plan. Drive continuous improvement through strategic reviews, process enhancements, and the adoption of emerging technologies such as NAVI, LView, and LV monitoring. Act as Duty Manager and contribute to emergency planning and business continuity efforts. Maximise regulatory performance and financial incentives by reducing CI/CML penalties and introducing innovative operational practices. Represent SPM in industry and government-led forums, contributing to policy development and regulatory readiness. Support business transformation initiatives and lead the team with integrity, accountability, and a focus on delivering value and efficiency. What You’ll Bring We’re looking for a confident and experienced leader with a strong electrical background and a passion for delivering safe, reliable, and customer-focused network performance. You’ll have a deep understanding of low voltage operations, strong leadership skills, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. A degree or HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). Expert knowledge of SP Energy Networks’ policies, procedures, and health, safety, and environmental legislation. Proven experience in line management, with the ability to coach, develop, and lead high-performing teams. Strong understanding of SCADA systems, network data, and operational technologies. Commercial and regulatory awareness, including contract and SLA management. Skilled in stakeholder engagement, with excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities. Ability to solve complex problems and make sound, balanced decisions under pressure. Knowledge of DNO incentive frameworks and performance improvement strategies. Organised, proactive, and committed to delivering objectives without compromising on safety, quality, or customer service.
