Manufacturing Engineer Opportunity - West Midlands
A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a global manufacturing organisation. This role offers flexibility to support ongoing production issues and lead continuous improvement manufacturing projects.
Position: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Cannock areas)
Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + benefits
Our client is a specialist manufacturer, supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry. The company is planning several key product launches this year, with continued investment in the production facility and increased volumes, along with further growth plans.
Job Responsibilities:
* Oversee continuous improvement & lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and performance.
* Specify production facilities and capital equipment; recommend vendors and equipment selection.
* Implement process improvements to optimize performance and capability.
* Lead machine PFMEA processes for existing and new capital investment projects.
* Review and improve SOPs, process instructions, flow, standard operations, and capabilities.
* Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives and DFM/DFA.
* Optimize process flow and minimize waste using MTM, line balancing, VSM, and lean manufacturing methods.
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineering Manager in high-volume mechanical manufacturing.
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
* Experience leading capital equipment projects, including specification, cost justification, vendor management, and successful NPI launch.
* Lead PFMEA processes.
* Project management experience and liaising with suppliers/vendors.
* Knowledge of production processes such as plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining, or large automated/robotic assembly.
* Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and liaison.
* Hands-on problem-solving skills, analytical mindset, and attention to detail.
* Excellent organizational skills, capable of managing multiple tasks or projects concurrently.
