English Teacher - Second in Charge (KS3 & KS4)

We are seeking an experienced and ambitious English Teacher to join our department as Second in Charge. This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a high-quality classroom practitioner who can support the Head of Department in driving standards, shaping curriculum, and securing excellent outcomes for students at KS3 and KS4.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver consistently high-quality English teaching across KS3 and KS4.
Support the leadership and strategic development of the English department alongside the Head of Department.
Contribute to curriculum planning, assessment, and raising attainment across the subject.
Support and mentor colleagues, sharing best practice and contributing to departmental improvement.
Monitor student progress and support intervention strategies to maximise outcomes. The Successful Candidate Will:
Hold QTS and be a qualified teacher (essential).
Have strong, proven experience teaching English at KS3 and KS4.
Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a track record of raising attainment.
Have the confidence and ability to take on departmental leadership responsibilities.
Be an effective team player with strong communication and organisational skills.
Be committed to high expectations, inclusion, and safeguarding. This role includes a TLR 2B and is ideal for an experienced teacher ready to take the next step in leadership within a supportive and ambitious English department
