Job Title: Graduate Ultrasound Engineer

Reports to: Sensors Manager

Location: Dorchester, DT2 8QH

Based in the south-west of England in Dorchester, Precision Acoustics is a Coda Octopus Group Company. The Company was established in its present form in 1997 and is well established as a major supplier of ultrasonic transducers, hydrophones, acoustic materials and metrology products for the MHz ultrasound markets on a worldwide basis.

The role:

Accountable to the Sensors manager, the Graduate Ultrasound Engineer will have a variety of responsibilities within the Sensors & Materials team including production of custom and developmental ultrasound sensors and materials. The position will hold responsibility for the design, fabrication and test of a variety of ultrasonic sensor and materials products.

Working as part of a small team, the role will involve a range of activities with initial focus on supporting production and development within the business.

This role will involve plenty of hands-on time in laboratory and light workshop environments with plenty of opportunities for on-the-job training and collaborative learning with other team members.

No prior knowledge of acoustics is required for the role and the successful candidate will be supported in their training and development.

Key Responsibilities:

* To support the Research team in delivery of new products and services.
* Sensor manufacture and support for custom product development.
* Electrical and acoustic testing of ultrasound sensors.
* Use of workshop facilities, including lathe and mill (training provided).
* Use of acoustic measurement equipment: Oscilloscope, hydrophones, ultrasound scanning tanks, radiation force balance (training provided).
* Supporting internal teams including the Research, Production and Calibration teams within the business.
* Assist with proposals for new sales.
* Liaise with external contacts including customers and suppliers.
* Design and development of assembly processes.
* Record keeping and procedure documentation.
* Maintaining a safe working practise.
* Supporting and working towards the Company vision and values.

Experience

* Degree qualified, ideally in a STEM discipline.
* Good attention to detail and an aptitude for precise and delicate work.
* Good interpersonal skills and an ability to collaborate with other team members.
* Excellent problem solving abilities and a desire to learn.
* An understanding of or interest in acoustics, electronics or a materials science is desirable.
* Able to work under own initiative.
* Ability to work within an ISO9001 quality system.
* Commitment to personal development and self learning.
