Associate Director – Cost Management

The Role
This is a senior-level opportunity for a chartered cost professional to lead the delivery of high-quality commercial outcomes across infrastructure projects. You’ll provide expert cost and commercial advice across all stages of a project lifecycle – from early-stage estimates and procurement strategy through to final account and post-contract cost management.
You’ll also contribute to business development, mentor and lead junior team members, and support the ongoing evolution of the team’s digital and delivery capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead pre- and post-contract cost management across infrastructure and public sector projects
* Provide strategic procurement and estimating input at feasibility and design stages
* Assure cost governance and compliance with internal and client procedures
* Oversee preparation of contract documents, cost plans, and tender evaluations
* Contribute to bids and proposals to support business development
* Build and maintain client relationships, acting as a key commercial advisor
* Mentor and develop junior team members, promoting best practice and collaboration
* Support wider business initiatives across digital, sustainability, and innovation
You’ll Need:
* MRICS (or equivalent)
* Strong pre- and post-contract cost management experience on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
* Prior experience within a consultancy environment is strongly preferred
* Demonstrated leadership in commercial delivery and client engagement
* Experience using digital tools such as CostX or CEMAR
* Working knowledge of NEC and other standard forms of contract
* Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities
* Flexibility to travel to client sites and regional offices as required
Desirable:
* Experience in emerging sectors such as water, energy or net zero infrastructure
* Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
* Professional membership of CICES, ACostE or similar (if not MRICS)
