Residential Child Care Worker (Driver)
Position Overview
Location: Bluebells (Short Breaks) – Walsall, UK.
Contract: Permanent, Part‑time, 22 hours per week.
Salary: Grade 6 – £31,537 to £34,434 (pro‑ratio to hours) plus 5% unsociable hours payment, including sleep‑ins. Qualified starting salary: £32,597 (pro‑ratio). Unqualified starting salary: £31,537 (pro‑ratio).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide residential care to children and young people in a short‑break setting, ensuring all care needs are met during their stays.
* Develop, build and maintain strong relationships with children, young people, parents, carers and professional partners.
* Support children’s development, nurturing and encouraging their potential.
* Work across a range of shifts—mornings, afternoons and evenings—covering Thursday afternoon to Monday afternoon, including school holidays and public bank holidays.
* Carry out overnight sleep‑in duties when required.
* Actively participate in safeguarding practices and promote a safe environment.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Experience working with children, preferably in a residential or short‑break setting.
* Patient, nurturing, child‑focused with attention to detail.
* Clear, robust safeguarding approach.
* Full UK driving licence (clean) – required for driving duties.
* Minimum age 22 years (must be at least 4 years older than the oldest resident in the house).
* Enhanced DBS clearance required; overseas records must be declared and appropriate certificates provided.
Working Hours & Conditions
The service operates Thursday afternoon through Monday afternoon. Shifts cover mornings, daytime and evenings, including school holidays and public bank holidays. Overnight sleep‑in duties are occasionally required.
