About the role:

We are currently looking for resilient, quality driven and flexible staff to join our team to support the wonderful individuals who reside with us in Penzance. Are you a person-led, supportive and nurturing person who is not afraid to advise on positive risk taking? Are you confident of stepping out of your own comfort zone to enable and support others to step out of theirs? Can you challenge yourself to challenge others in a positive way, to hold difficult conversations providing advise and guidance in difficult circumstances? St Clare's is a hub and spoke style supported living service in Penzance comprising of 8 self-contained flats and a central hub area. We support up to 8 individuals varying in age and diagnoses of learning disabilities and Autism as well as other health challenges. Each individual has their own needs and likes and dislikes. Each individual has their own 1:1 support hours and core background support is always provided. You will be supporting all 8 individuals throughout the day and night, as part of a team. You will need strong adaptable communication skills and be able to be calm under pressure. Thinking on your feet as well as working as part of a team are key skills to provide a high quality of support.

The ideals are that as support workers we help to provide skill-based support leading to improved independent living skills, confidence and getting people to realise their true potential. You will be helping to build people's confidence, skills in accessing and engaging with the community as well as to engage with education or support towards employment or regular activities.

This role can also include some personal care, supporting individuals emotional wellbeing as well as attending health and other appointments.

Training and support will also be provided.

About the working pattern: 25 hours per week.Flexible shifts based over a 2-week rolling pattern. There is a mixture of days and nights although this is dependent on the shift patterns.

Due to our sponsorship obligations, we are unable to offer part-time hours to those requiring sponsorship.
