Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, and versatile Occupational Therapist looking to start or progress your career within a supportive and dynamic team? Join us at Whipps Cross Hospital, part of Barts Health NHS Trust – the largest NHS trust in the UK.


We are currently recruiting for Band 5 Occupational Therapists to join our established site-based rotation, offering excellent development opportunities across specialties including orthopaedics, surgery, medicine, older people’s services, and the emergency therapy team.

Main duties of the job

To work as an autonomously provide high quality occupational therapy interventions to awide variety of patients including the assessment and treatment of patients, provision ofindividual and group education and treatment sessions, provision of assistive devices(orthotics and prosthetics) and equipment and minor home adaptations in a wide varietyof settings including hospital wards, outpatient departments and the patients home.Working in a number of specialties across Barts Health NHS Trust including respiratory and critical care, acute admissions unit, neurosciences and stroke, trauma andorthopaedics, cancer services and hand therapy.

Person specification

Qualifications

* Completed degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC registered

Experience

* Completed varied clinical placements.
* Experience of working within a multidisciplinary and/or occupational therapy team
* Experience of working in diverse communities and/or social care and health settings

Knowledge

* Knowledge of a broad range of clinical conditions.
* Knowledge of OT in the acute setting.

Skills

* Ability to prioritise, organise and delegate
* Ability to communicate and present information, orally and in writing, in a clear and logical manner to patients and carers who may have difficulties understanding or comprehending.
* Understanding of the legal and ethical responsibilities of the profession
* Ability to carry out moderate to intense physical effort throughout the working day and manage competing demands and interruptions.
* Ability to cope working in a range of treatment environments at a fast pace and with emotional and/or aggressive patients and carers
* Ability to assess and educate clients and carers about safe transfer techniques (including use of equipment and adaptations)

Other

* Motivated and passionate about the OT profession
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists
* Understanding of and commitment to Royal College of Occupational Therapy and HPC guidelines, code of ethics and professional conduct.
* Knowledge and understanding of Health and Safety legislation and ability to integrate into clinical practice.
