Engineering Manager – Voice Agents
Join Zendesk’s Agentic Tribe as Engineering Manager, leading a skilled team to build the future of conversational AI with Gen3, our next‑generation AI agent system.
Responsibilities
* Lead a cross‑functional team of 6–8 engineers across front‑end, back‑end and research domains.
* Guide the team toward achieving their full potential with coaching, mentorship, and skill development.
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and micro‑feedback.
* Champion engineering best practices, code quality, and delivery.
* Collaborate with fellow Engineering Managers, Chapter Leads, PMs, and stakeholders to align on goals.
* Ensure technology scalability, low latency, and high performance for voice‑first experiences.
Qualifications
* Proven experience building and scaling voice‑based products, including speech‑to‑text, text‑to‑speech, and speech‑to‑speech systems.
* Strong technical background designing and maintaining complex software architectures.
* Demonstrated track record leading and motivating engineering teams.
* Experience managing teams through change and scaling operations.
* Excellent communication skills; able to facilitate discussions with stakeholders.
* Expertise in iterative development, risk balancing, and maintaining quality.
