About the role as a Learning Experience Specialist
The Learning Experience Specialist plays a key role in shaping how staff access and experience professional development across Activate Learning. Working across a developing learning ecosystem that supports leaders, managers, teachers and all staff, the role will help translate organisational approaches to talent development into practical, user-centred learning experiences that support staff growth and development.
The Learning Experience Specialist is responsible for designing and maintaining high-quality, user-centred learning experiences for staff, ensuring they are engaging, accessible and aligned to organisational priorities. The role oversees the organisation’s end-to-end learning offer, including its structure, communication and presentation across platforms such as SharePoint and LinkedIn Learning. It plays a key role in delivering learning projects from initiation through to evaluation, while continuously improving the quality and impact of the professional development offer. The role also supports colleagues who deliver professional development to use LinkedIn Learning effectively, and to manage reporting consistently to ensure all learning is reflected within the wider organisational learning offer.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and maintain staff-facing learning pathways and resources that support blended, self-directed and facilitated learning approaches, ensuring alignment to organisational priorities and learner needs
2. Curate and manage learning content on LinkedIn Learning and SharePoint, ensuring resources are clear, engaging and easy to navigate
3. Own and continuously improve the organisation’s learning offer on SharePoint and LinkedIn Learning, ensuring content is clearly structured, accurate, engaging and effectively communicates learning opportunities
4. Lead and coordinate learning projects from scoping through to delivery and evaluation, managing stakeholder engagement, timelines, risks, dependencies and quality standards
5. Provide advisory support and capability building across the organisation, including guidance on learning design, platform use and content curation, and deliver workshops, briefings and development sessions to embed good practice
This is a permanent, 0.75 FTE role based at either Oxford, Reading or Guildford college.
What do you need to be successful as a Learning Experience Specialist at Activate Learning?
We are looking for a proactive and digitally confident learning professional with experience in learning and development, learning design, learning operations, internal communications or a related field. The ideal candidate will be confident with SharePoint, and will have experience curating, designing or managing staff-facing digital learning content. They will be able to work independently on defined projects, apply strong learning experience design principles, and communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders. Experience supporting others to use learning systems and tools, a flair for SharePoint and strong written communication skills, is essential.
6. Experience in learning and development, learning design, learning operations or a related field, with the ability to manage learning activity or projects with minimal supervision
7. Proven experience in curating, designing, organising or managing learning content, including use of platforms such as SharePoint and LinkedIn Learning or similar systems
8. Strong ability to design and maintain structured, user-centred learning pathways and resources
9. Confidence working across staff-facing digital platforms to present, communicate and manage a coherent and accessible learning offer, applying learning experience design principles
10. Strong written communication skills, with experience supporting and upskilling others to use internal learning systems, tools and platforms effectively
