Administrator (GP Practice) – maternity cover
This appointment is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) check, receipt of two satisfactory references and verifying your right to work in the UK.
The offer:
* The position is based at the Practice. There is no hybrid or working from home available in this role.
* The position is offered on a fixed term basis, to cover a period of maternity leave (9 to 12 months). A probationary period will apply.
* 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, ideally worked 9:30 to there might be flexibility with start/end times, but you must be able to work across the 5 days.
* The rate of pay is £13.94 per hour (equivalent to £18,122 per annum).
* The holiday allowance of 4 weeks per full leave year will be pro-rated to your joining date and working hours. The 8 bank holidays are in addition, also on a pro-rated basis.
* Eligibility to join our pension scheme.
About us and this opportunity
Cricket Green Medical Practice is a forward-thinking, well established GP surgery in South West London. We provide care for a patient population of close to 12,000, working alongside a multi-skilled team of 40 clinical and administrative staff, supported by four GP partners.
We are looking to appoint one administrator to join our busy medical surgery in Mitcham, to work alongside a great team of GPs, administrators and receptionists on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave.
In this role, you will be working with our highly supportive and skilled team, in very busy surgery, working on referrals admin tasks. Experience of working in a similar environment, such as a GP, NHS, dental or veterinary practice, or in a similarly fast-paced customer-facing environment, will be an advantage.

About the role
You can expect a very busy day, working mainly on administrative duties associated with patient referrals.
Other duties in the admin team and occasional reception desk cover may be required from time to time; this will include tasks such as making appointments; welcoming patients; answering telephones promptly and dealing with queries; and keeping the reception area clean and tidy at all times.
About you
You will have excellent administrative skills, acquired in a customer service environment. You will show patience and resilience when dealing with patients, some of whom may be feeling upset or distressed because of their personal circumstances. A professional manner and compassion will help.
To thrive in this admin role, you will need excellent organisation skills and the ability to prioritise. Everyone is expected to muck in to deliver an excellent service to our patients. The Administrator role is very busy, and you will proactively ask questions so that all patient queries are answered accurately and without delay. We will train you and we don't mind questions because we want you to learn and develop in the role.
You will work with Word and Excel every day and must already use both at an intermediate or advanced level. In addition, you will work from several other systems necessary for the efficient running of a GP practice. You will receive training on all internal systems if you are not familiar with them already.
