Role: Design Engineer (Modernisation)

Core Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed lift modernization designs, drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD.
* Ensure all designs comply with relevant applicable lift standards, building regulations and health & safety requirements.
* Liaise with clients, consultants and other third parties to secure approval of drawings and technical submissions.
* Place accurate and timely equipment orders to suppliers in line with approved designs and specifications.
* Liaise with our UK modernisation department sales, Project Managers and installation teams to ensure designs are accurate, practical and cost-effective.
* Support project handovers by providing clear technical documentation and guidance to the installation team.
Key Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in lift design, ideally within modernization or refurbishment projects.
* Strong knowledge of UK lift standards, regulations, and industry practices (EN81, BS, Building Regs).
* Proficiency in AutoCAD (essential); experience with other design tools is an advantage.
* Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt designs to site-specific challenges.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
* Organised, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Preferred Background
* Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
* Minimum 3–5 years' experience in lift engineering, with a focus on modernization.
* Familiarity with lift manufacturers' equipment and modernization packages; familiarity and experience with KLEEMANN products is an advantage.
