Job Title: Field Application Engineer (FAE)
As a Field Application Engineer (FAE), you will play a critical role in bridging advanced compound semiconductor technologies with real-world industrial applications. Working at the intersection of innovation, engineering, and customer engagement, you will support industry partners—from start-ups to global OEMs—in creating application solutions that adopt and integrate cutting-edge compound semiconductor devices such as GaN, GaAs, and SiC across sectors like power electronics, RF communications, photonics, and sensing.
You will be a trusted advisor throughout the design and development lifecycle, helping partners accelerate time-to-market and maximize performance. Your work will directly contribute to the UK’s national capability in compound semiconductor applications and innovation.
Acting as the pivotal technical bridge between the CSA Catapult engineering teams, our partners, and our customers, the FAE has the prime responsibility to drive sustainable commercial revenue.
This role is based at home, with travel required to customer and partner sites, as well as attendance at CSA Catapult's offices (Newport headquarters and regional offices) according to business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Engage with industry partners to understand complex application requirements and propose innovative and elegant compound semiconductor-based solutions.
2. Proactively establish and develop relationships with key stakeholders at strategic customers, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
3. Listen profoundly to customers and collect market feedback to guide internal technical roadmaps.
4. Identify unique Intellectual Property (IP) and know-how, emphasizing the commercial advantages these assets bring to the organization.
5. Deliver technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions to help partners understand compound semiconductor capabilities.
6. Contribute to knowledge transfer and ecosystem development across the UK’s advanced electronics sector.
7. Contribute to achieving commercial revenue targets and build a pipeline of projects to drive future revenue growth.
