Job Description:
Purpose
In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of emission and fuel consumption testing from an engineering perspective. This includes liaising with the client, working with technicians to deliver projects, overseeing vehicle preparation, equipment installation, testing, and formulating and validating test results into data packs and reports. All testing will be performed within our state-of-the-art 4WD Variable Temperature Emissions Chamber (VTEC) for heavy-duty vehicles.
Responsibilities
* Conduct engineering vehicle emissions testing projects for various customers.
* Perform tests on chassis dynamometers driving different cycles.
* Collaborate with other engineers to design test and timing plans.
* Communicate with clients to ensure project expectations are met.
* Work with emissions technicians to ensure proper testing procedures.
* Collect and validate test results from logging equipment.
* Stay updated with testing regulations and manage improvements.
* Develop systems for work and data handling.
* Adhere to health & safety and quality procedures.
* Work 40 hours per week with potential overtime and flexible hours.
* Analyze results, including conformity statements and interpretations.
* Report, review, and authorize results.
* Maintain professional behavior as per UTAC standards.
Qualifications
* Automotive Engineering Degree or equivalent.
Core competencies:
* Experience with chassis dynamometer emissions and fuel economy testing.
* Project management skills.
* Ability to analyze and compile technical data.
* Knowledge of engine, exhaust after-treatment, and emissions.
* Customer relationship skills.
* Procedural development skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
* Strong communication skills.
* Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Advantageous Qualities:
* Understanding of vehicle propulsion systems.
* Experience in propulsion vehicle testing and development.
* Experience with vehicle emissions and fuel economy testing on chassis dynamometers.
* Knowledge of emissions regulations.
* Experience with CAN, data logging, ETAS INCA, AVL Concerto, AVL iGEM, and AVL PUMA is beneficial.
