Role Overview
As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take a lead role in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions. You will collaborate closely with clients, project teams, and other disciplines to ensure the successful execution of projects, from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership: Produce detailed mechanical designs, including HVAC systems, plumbing, heating, and ventilation solutions, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Project Management: Oversee the delivery of electrical engineering projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to client satisfaction.
Collaboration: Work closely with clients, architects, and other engineers to develop tailored solutions that meet project requirements.
Technical Oversight: Review and approve designs, calculations, and specifications prepared by junior engineers and ensure quality assurance across all deliverables.
Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers, fostering their development and encouraging a collaborative team environment.
Sustainability: Incorporate energy-efficient and sustainable design practices into project solutions.
Site Support: Attend project meetings and site visits to ensure alignment between design intent and on-site implementation.
Skills & Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent (Chartered Engineer status or working towards it preferred).
* Proven experience in electrical design within a consultancy or similar environment, including a strong portfolio of delivered projects.
* In-depth knowledge of relevant standards, codes, and regulations (e.g., CIBSE Guides, Building Regulations).
* Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and calculation tools (e.g., Hevacomp, IES).
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead client meetings and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Problem-solving mindset with excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
* Commitment to sustainability and knowledge of renewable energy technologies is desirable.
