Teaching Assistant
Location: Grateley House School- Andover, Hampshire
Hours: 37 hours/week – Permanent / Term time only
About Us:
Grateley House School is a successful 38-week specialist day school for young people aged 11–19 with a diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Disorder (typically high functioning and/or with associated disorders). Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, we provide a broad, balanced, and challenging curriculum, preparing students for successful lives beyond school.
We currently support 38 students, with planned growth over the next three years.
About the Role:
This is a rewarding role suited to individuals motivated to support children and young people with special educational needs. It’s also excellent experience for anyone considering a career in teaching. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Supporting students in lessons and during non-structured time.
2. Transporting and supporting students at college (driving required).
3. Assisting teachers with preparation of work, resources, and equipment.
4. Supporting students during on- and off-site activities.
5. Completing paperwork to record observations and interventions.
What we’re looking for:
6. Previous classroom experience desirable but not essential – full training given.
7. Minimum of GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
8. Commitment to personal learning and development.
9. Enthusiastic, focused, and resilient attitude.
Additional Information:
10. This role is UK applicants only (no sponsorship available).
11. Easily commutable from Andover, Basingstoke, Southampton, Salisbury, Winchester, and surrounding areas.
