Senior Software Quality Engineer (Networking) – Cambridge, England, United Kingdom
AMD is expanding the team responsible for verification and validation of our cutting-edge networking, low-latency Ethernet Adapters, and SmartNIC technology in the Data Centre Group. We are looking for an additional high-calibre senior test engineer to help test our solutions to ensure they meet end-customer requirements, using a comprehensive framework of heavily automated test suites. These aren’t just simple scripts, but powerful, multi-threaded test harnesses that stress our products to the limit, verifying that they do what they’re supposed to and are reliable under adverse conditions. Working from a feature requirement spec, you will design, write, execute and support comprehensive test cases using modern test frameworks, based on defined and extrapolated use cases. You will collaborate with a development team during the test cycle, using our home-grown tool chain to run tens of thousands of test cases, analyze results, present findings clearly, and dig deeper into issues to gain a deep understanding of the problem.
Responsibilities
* Design, write, execute and support comprehensive test cases from feature requirement specs using modern test frameworks.
* Collaborate with development teams during the test cycle and use the home-grown tool chain to run tens of thousands of test cases.
* Analyze results, present results clearly and concisely, and investigate issues to understand root causes.
* Verify that products meet end-customer requirements and perform reliably under adverse conditions.
Qualifications
* A degree in a Scientific or Engineering subject, an equivalent qualification, or relevant professional experience.
* 1-3 years’ experience in a software test role.
* Good communication and inter-personal skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and organization.
* Good understanding of PC architecture and Linux environments.
* Solid bug reporting/triage skills.
* Experience of networking protocols - TCP/UDP/IP, RDMA, etc. - desirable but not essential.
