The Opportunity We are looking for an experienced, tenacious and self-motivated Project Manager to join our Defence Business Unit, working within our Information Advantage delivery team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing bids and delivery projects across a broad technology landscape and at all stages of project lifecycles including Research & Development, Solution Delivery and In-Service Support. The Role Project Managers at Roke are empowered to own and drive delivery of value in support of our Customer’s needs and in support of our business objectives. As an IA PM in Defence, you will have full control and accountability of the projects you work on, supported by your Head of Delivery and Roke’s wider P3M community. Your responsibilities will include: Bid and Project Delivery · Lead the development and submission of competitive bids that address customer pain points and requirements. · Deliver bids and projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, ensuring full understanding and adherence to governing contracts. · Manage planning, scope, approach, resourcing, financial management, and key milestones. · Identify, prioritize, and actively manage risks and issues associated with bids and projects, ensuring timely escalation of critical risks or issues. · Create and lead high-performing cross-functional teams, setting clear objectives and supporting team success. Foster a culture of continuous improvement in delivery capabilities. Stakeholder and Client Management · Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and partners. · Collaborate with the Sales team to identify and pursue expansion opportunities, balancing business needs with stakeholder expectations. Financial and Resource Management · Manage financial forecasts and ensure accurate financial reporting. · Oversee resource requirements and work closely with the Resourcing function to ensure optimal allocation. Governance and Reporting · Ensure all project artefacts (deliverables and non-deliverables) are controlled and produced to a high standard, in line with the company’s Quality Management System (QMS). · Provide timely and accurate forecasting and project reporting, tracking and reporting against key performance indicators (KPIs). · Identify opportunities to enhance delivery processes and capabilities, driving continuous improvement. About you You should be an established Project Manager with at least 5 years relevant experience and a strong and proven background in delivery of integrated technology projects. You should understand the Defence sector and have experience working with UK Defence customers and technologies, as well as an appreciation of broader applications of relevant technologies in broader markets globally. You should be self-motivated, and excited to bring your skills and knowledge to Roke in order to continue to develop professionally, as well as being directly accountable for delivering positive value to Defence. Education and Qualifications · APM, PMP or equivalent P3M qualifications · Bidding training/commercial qualifications welcomed Knowledge, Skills & Experience · Excellent Stakeholder Management and demonstrable experience of building excellent relationships both internally and with key client stakeholders. · Extensive experience in managing hardware / software bids and projects that range from conceptual research through to sub-system development, delivery, and support of projects up to £5m. · Experience in rapid prototyping and accelerating development projects for UORs · Able to work through complicated situations whilst maintaining communications with multiple stakeholders. · Solid financial and commercial awareness and experience of negotiation. · Must be flexible and willing to contribute where needed in the business cycle to further the team’s success. · Pre-sale / bid delivery experience, commercial awareness and a thorough understanding of the business lifecycle. · Able to operate in a deadline-focused environment · Experience of working with the UK Ministry of Defence, preferably taking a leading role in development and delivery of solutions · Experience in products, product development and research and consultancy · Able to lead effectively in a multi-functional team · Risk and Opportunity management experience · Demonstrated ability to multi-task across multiple bids/platforms · Experience of developing and managing Subcontractor Relationships and fostering collaborative working practices in mixed stakeholder environments Why You Should Join Us Roke offer a competitive salary and access to a number of additional flexible benefits covering Health and Wellbeing, Savings and Protection & Life, Leisure and Entertainment.
