Senior Finance Officer Location: Rochdale, OL16 Salary: £18.26 per hour, paid weekly - every Friday! Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Finance Officer to join a dynamic public sector finance team. This role is integral to the delivery of statutory and business-critical financial functions, including budget setting, monitoring, closure of accounts, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting effective decision-making and ensuring robust financial systems and controls are in place. Key Responsibilities: Deliver accurate and timely financial information to support strategic and operational decision-making. Lead on financial processes including budget preparation, monitoring, and year-end accounts. Provide financial advice and support to service areas, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Manage and develop staff within the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Contribute to corporate initiatives and projects from a financial perspective. Ensure financial systems are secure, efficient, and effectively utilised. Liaise with external stakeholders including auditors, funding bodies, and partner organisations. Support the implementation of automation and streamlined processes to enhance service delivery. What we are looking for: Proven experience in a finance role within a public sector or similar environment. Strong technical knowledge of financial regulations, procedures, and systems. Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and financial software. Ability to manage and develop staff, and work collaboratively across departments. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly. Commitment to public service values and continuous professional development. Desirable: Professional finance qualification (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIPFA) or working towards one. Experience in preparing statutory accounts and financial returns.
